
To date, the Banfield Charitable Trust has awarded more than a half million dollars in grant funding to support a variety of programs. Please see our Funded Programs and grant recipient stories.
The Banfield Charitable Trust’s funding priorities are:
- Promotion of preventive healthcare for Pets
- Educating children about veterinary medicine and the Pets they love
- Programs based on the human-Pet bond and how it relates to longer, healthier lives for Pets and people
- Veterinary education programs
- Disaster preparedness and response program development
The Charitable Trust does not fund more than 50% of an entire project, but expects to be one of multiple funding sources.
Funding will not be considered for the following purposes:
- Spay and neuter or adoption programs. (Note: We will consider requests for programs that protect against preventable disease for Pets that are in families or Pets that are ready and going to adoption.)
- General operating expenses, deficit reduction, or general administrative overhead expenses.
- Fundraising campaigns, including special events.
- Grants to individuals, or to provide support for business enterprise.
- Equine programs
- International programs
- Construction costs for new buildings or remodeling proposals
Application Deadline for 2008:
First Cycle: All applications must be received by June 30, 2008. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in August 2008.
Second Cycle: All applications must be received by November 30, 2008 Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in January 2009.

Scholarships Available from the Banfield Charitable Trust
The Campbell Family Scholarships benefit undergraduate students with Pet experience and an interest in a career path to help make life better for Pets and families. Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students for a length of one academic year and cover tuition and school fees only.
Scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year will be awarded on or about July 31, 2008. Completed applications must be received by the Trust by June 30, 2008.
